WHAT IS THE BUSINESS BOOST GRANT?
The Queensland Government will be opening applications for theΒ Business Boost GrantΒ this Friday from 9am. This enables small businesses the opportunity to invest in areas that need improvement, efficiency and productivity.
A business must apply for the grant under one of the following priorities:
- Future planning
- Specialised and automated software
- Staff management, development and planning
This is a great chance for businesses to leverage the grant in order to increase their profit, employment, confidence, business skills, improve business resilience and survivability.
This grant comes at a crucial time where customer frustrations are high due to the current circumstance surrounding the pandemic and the knock on effects of lock-downs and restrictions.
Available for Queensland Businesses only.

What funding is available?
Businesses can receive a grant of up to $15,000 (ex. GST), once the application has been completed, submitted and approved. The minimum grant funding available is $7,500, the maximum is $15,000.Β
Thereβs a co-contribution requirement of at least 30% of the total cost of your project. If you apply for the minimum grant funding, the total cost of your project can be $10,715, leaving a contribution of $3,215 remaining. The maximum grant funding is eligible for a project’s total cost of $21,429; leaving $6,429 for a contribution. Your total project cost can be greater than $21,429, however the maximum grant amount will be $15,000.
What is the Eligibility Criteria?
Your business is eligible for the Business Boost Grant is it meets the below requirements:
- have fewer than 20 employees (by headcount);
- have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and registered for GST;
- have a Queensland headquarters;
- have a turnover of between $300,000 (minimum) and $600,000 (maximum) in the
- last financial year (2020-21);
- have a publicly reachable web presence to identify business operations (for example,
- business website, social media pages); and
- have owners/directors that are not insolvent or undischarged bankrupt
What can the grant funding can be spent on?
As aforementioned, the grant can be put towards three priorities.
Future planning
Includes strategic business planning for innovation and growth, implementing a governance board to guide strategic planning, exporting opportunities and requirements, and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Specialised and Automated Software
Includes design and implementation of management systems (data warehouses, asset management etc), bespoke/complex website design (including ecommerce, booking systems etc), cybersecurity, and innovative technologies.
Staff management, development and planning
Includes human resource management skills building, professional development and training, digital workplace plans and systems for a remote workplace.
